The Geekly Forecast: May 25th – May 31st, 2015

The Geekly Forecast is a weekly preview of all the neat stuff coming to screens, stores, and living rooms near you!

Recommendations:
TV: Most of the other good shows are over, so it’s time to focus on Game of Thrones… as if you needed to be told.
Music: Another good week for Hip-Hop fans, as A$AP Rocky drops At.Long.Last.A$AP. It’s full of guest features, including: Mos Def, Kanye West and Rod Stewart. Yes, you read that correctly.
Netflix: Nothing really looks that great, but the Netflix-exclusive Hot Girls Wanted is a documentary bout 18-19 year old porn stars and is produced by Rashida Jones.
Movies: If it were me, I would go see Tomorrowland again, but San Andreas starring the Rock isn’t a poor choice, either.
DVD: True Blood is really over, guys. Go get the last season on DVD, or just stream it all on HBO. Yeah, let’s do that instead. these seasons are like $45.

The Geekly Forecast: May 18th – May 24th, 2015

The Geekly Forecast is a weekly preview of all the neat stuff coming to screens, stores, and living rooms near you!

Recommendations:
TV: Say goodbye to Season 1 of The Flash, one of the best new shows on TV. A phenomenal 10th season of Supernatural also closes out.
Music: Hip-Hop heads will consider Murs‘ Have a Nice Life a must-buy, and former Lupe collaborator Gemstones‘ Blind Elephant seems great, too.
Netflix: I’ve been waiting for The Boxtrolls to come out on Netflix for a while, but Welcome to the Punch starring James McAvoy and Marc Strong is more up my alley.
Movies: You have to go see Tomorrowland. If you have a taste for horror, check out the Poltergeist remake. If you choose to see Human Centipede 3, go straight to jail. Do not pass go; do not collect $200.
DVD: Season 3 of Orange is the New Black streams starting June 12th. You can catch all the episodes on Netflix, but collectors still should pick up Season 2 on DVD this week.

Movies: There are some good choices out there with Pitch Perfect 2 and Good Kill out, but we’re heading to see Mad Max: Fury Road first.

The Geekly Forecast: Apr 27th – May 3rd, 2015

The Geekly Forecast is a weekly preview of all the neat stuff coming to screens, stores, and living rooms near you!

Recommendations:
TV: Oliver is officially heir to the Demon, and it’s kinda sexy. So yeah, watch Arrow
Music: Typically I pick whatever will be popular or something really weird. If you want popular, go with Raekwon’s F.I.L.A. or Zac Brown Band’s Jekyll + Hyde. Personally, I am really liking the sound of Colin Stetson and Sarah Neufeld Never Were The Way She Was. It is so pretty!
Netflix: I may or may not be joking, but Legally Blonde and Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde are both on Netflix on Friday, and I *might* skip Avengers 2 for this fest.
Movies: Just kidding! GIVE ME ALL THE AVENGERS 2!!!!!!!!!! ALL WEEKEND!!!!!!! CAPS LOCK INTENDED!!!!!!!
DVD: For a feel good kids movie Paddington is the best choice. For an intense rush with some laughs try Inherent Vice. But if you are 90’s kid, there is no question that Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of is the only DVD to purchase this week.
