Yesterday in the Nerd Verse… Mar. 18th, 2015

Ruth Negga, who plays the Raina in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., has been cast as Tulip in the Seth Rogan TV adaptation of Preacher. Tulip is Jesse Cutter’s (the Preacher’s) love interest. I’m getting more and more excited for the show. Source: Deadline

There were already a dozen reasons to hate this Last Days/Battleworld crap that Marvel is pulling in May, but now, here is a list of the 33 titles that will be dying with the 616, among them some of our favorites (Amazing Spider-Man, Captain MarvelDeadpool, Guardians of the GalaxyRocket RaccoonSuperior Iron Man and Uncanny X-Men) Source: Comicbook.com

Finally, somebody we actually want throwing their hat into the super-hero role game has spoken. Jim Parsons (Big Bang Theory‘s Sheldon Cooper) said off-handedly that he would like to play The Riddler. He says that he would “be dope” as Edward Nigma. We really like Gotham‘s Cory Michael Smith, but we like Parsons more. Source: MTV UK

In other casting news, TJ Miller’s part in the upcoming Deadpool film has been announced as Weasel, Wade Wilson’s bitch boy best friend, informant, and arms dealer.

Good news! Japan is still weirder than us! Now you get your chick sexing on thanks to this amazing new Burger King burger-scented perfume. There’s a good chance that this is a hoax, with April 1’s National Whopper Day coinciding with April Fool’s Day, but the fact that it’s believable should be all the shame they need. Source: Kotaku

The Walking Dead‘s executive producer isn’t just using Kickstarter to fund a new documentary about Willa Mankiller, the first woman to be elected President of the Cherokee Nation; she is also using the star-power of her TWD cast to field goodies from the show and cast. Support a documentary that needs to be made, and get cool stuff for doing it. Source: Kickstarter

X-Box One is winning at one thing. Microsoft has launched an online cloud service that allows users to upload music to OneDrive, and then stream on their gaming console – a revolutionary idea that should have been enrolled 5 years ago, but still leaps and bounds above what Playstation is offering. Star Wars fans and gamers alike can both appreciate the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim (April 16-19), where Star Wars: Battlefront will be announced for the masses. If EA can manage to get out of their own way, this game will be one of the best Star Wars games to date. Source: EA

So Far this Week… April 2, 2014

With the expansion of Hush Comics, we have decided to give bi-weekly news updates.  Anything we find news-worthy will be posted here bi-weekly.  Have anything to add?  Post it in the comments!

That awesome April Fools’ Day tradition of the media tricking us into thinking really cool ideas are really real cool ideasis back. Here are some of our favorites that we’ve found around the nets:

Microsoft finally revealed Cortana, the Windows Phone’s answer to Siri. Anybody who has an iPhone can tell you that she is a complete idiot, so the there’s no reason to think that the Halo babe could make Appleheads jump ship.

Robot Chicken DC Special 2: Villains in Paradise airs this Sunday on Cartoon Network. Check out this sneak peak from DC: All Access. Solomon Grundy want pants, too!

Tonight’s episode of Arrow is titled “Deathstroke.” After the events of last week’s “Birds of Prey,” Things have gotten so real! Manu Bennett AKA Crixus AKA Slade Wilson is killin’ it right now!

Everybody’s favorite asshole doctor show, House M.D., is now streaming on Netflix. I fell off the wagon right after Season 5, so I’m excited to see how the show wrapped up.

Monday marked the end of How I Met Your Mother. The show has been a staple in American television for nearly a decade, so not matter how you felt about the finale, you gotta give credit where it’s due. I’m excited to see what Alyson Hannigan, Jason Segel and Neil Patrick Harris are going to do next.

Superman: Unchained #7 will come out whenever the hell it feels like. The series with the juggernaut creative team (Jim Lee, Scott Synder) has released six issues in eight months, and will be taking another month hiatus.

Get your sewing kit out! There is going to be a Marvel-themed Project Runway show airing tomorrow. I actually used these words: “Babe, could you DVR the next Project Runway for me?” Man card revoked.
