The Geekly Forecast: November 2nd – November 8th, 2015

The Geekly Forecast is a weekly preview of all the neat stuff coming to screens, stores, and living rooms near you!

Recommendations:

BD/DVD: Whether you got a super-deep meaning out of it, or just enjoyed the touchy-feelyness of it, Inside Out is a movie that would do well joining the classic Pixar home collection. You had me at “Bing Bong.”

This week marks the return of a lot of sitcoms for the fall, but we’re still like “yeah, yeah, whatever. The Walking Dead is on!”
Movies:
Like you even had a chance, Snoopy! Spectre is coming to theaters; this is Bond’s weekend. The movie has shattered UK’s record for openings. However, nobody would blame you for seeing Peanuts or Trumbo instead.

NOOOOOOO!! Channing Tatum Leaving ‘Gambit’

Channing Tatum

Nothing is confirmed yet, but with this news spreading like wildfire, it seems like it is true.

Channing Tatum will no longer be Gambit.

It is unclear exactly what went wrong. Actresses were just being tested with the leading man. It is also unclear whether Tatum will still be producing the film.

This news seems really surprising. Tatum has championed this film similarly to what Ryan Reynolds did for Deadpool. Tatum planned on producing and acting in the picture. He has been talking about it on the press circuit. He even went to SDCC. I just don’t understand.

Who caused this? WHO CAN I BLAME FOR CHANNING?!

Spectre’ Gets a Trailer and it Obviously Looks Amazing

The Daniel Craig set of Bond films just might be my favorite.

I was blown away with Skyfall. Going into the spy’s past is a good breakaway from the spy projects at hand. While those are always fun, finding out where our hero comes from is just as intriguing.

Enter Spectre. An organization that is very powerful and has one thing in common: James Bond. He must deal with his past work and possible wrong doings to get through the present. Plus: Girls, Guns, and Cars!

Oh, and my personal favorite thing about this film… Christoph Waltz will be playing Bond’s antagonist, Franz Oberhauser. It has been a while since audiences have had the pleasure of hating a Christoph Waltz’ character. I personally love to hate him.

Spectre is making its first appearance in a Bond film since 1971’s Diamonds Are Forever. This film is not a direct adaptation of any of Ian Fleming’s books in particular, but is taking a bit from the short story Octopussy from Octopussy and The Living Daylights. A character named Hannes Oberhauser is a background character in a story about WWII told from the viewpoint of villain Major Dexter Smythe.

Spectre will be in theaters November 6th.

Hot Toys is Breaking ‘Star Wars’ Fans Bank Accounts One Figure at a Time

I’ll start with this: Hot Toys is amazing.

Amazing and expensive.

Their latest creations really could break your bank.

First up is an 18-foot long replica of the Millennium Falcon. While this beauty isn’t for sale, it is still worth aweing over. The replica is set to be on display this weekend at Ani-Com and Games Hong Kong.

Then, they announced a 1/6th scale figure of Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia. This figure is specifically from A New Hope. I believe this is one of the best Princess Leia figures I have seen; many are too masculine in the face. Along with this Luke Skywalker figure, Leia is set to start shipping next year sometime.

Good luck recovering from this.

Jimmy Akingbola Cast as Baron Blitzkrieg in ‘Arrow’ Season 4

The Arrow is getting a new nemesis.

Jimmy Akingbola, who has only acted on this side of the pond in Sons of Liberty, will be playing Baron Blitzkrieg in Season 4 of The CW series Arrow.

Baron Blitzkrieg debuted in 1977’s World’s Finest Comics #246. He was an Earth-2 villain who led the group Shadowspire. Blitzkrieg was a German Nazi who was blinded when acid was thrown at him while working in a concentration camp. His sight was restored by scientists who also gave him superhuman strength, the ability to fly, optic energy beams, and invulnerability.

Arrow hasn’t been one to stick to the original or bring in meta-humans. I am very interested to see what back story they give this character for the modern day.

Arrow returns to The CW on October 7th.

Kit Harington Maybe Returning to ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Based off Creepy Airport Picture

Dead character sighting!

Kit Harington, rocker of man buns and portrayer of fan-favorite, and now dead, Jon Snow on Game of Thrones, has been spotted in the Belfast airport. Belfast is where interior scenes of GoT are filmed.

Fans have been in denial over Snow’s death for a little over a month now. People attached to the show have stayed behind the whole “Jon Snow is dead” thing, but speculators have many theories. The most interesting theory I have heard is that they are saying Jon Snow is dead, but not Jon Stark. So he could be coming back.

Watchers on the Wall has been following Harington’s moves for a while now and say that he has been in Belfast too much for this sighting to mean just a funeral or a flashback. Apparently, at this sighting, Tom Wlaschiha was also on the flight to Belfast. Wlaschiha plays Jaqen H’gha.

So how will Snow come back? It could be from Melisandre, or it could be that losing that much blood wouldn’t really kill you, or he could be a white walker. All I know, is that if he comes back, you better be prepared to block your social media if you aren’t watching live.
